Cindy Moo

Cindy Moo by Lori Mortensen is a retelling of the classic Nursery Rhyme “The Cow Jumped Over the Moon”.

Meet Cindy Moo, a cow from the Diddle farm who aspires to jump over the moon.  Her cow herd laughs at her and doesn’t believe it’s possible, but Cindy Moo is determined.  She chases the moon to the top of a hill but gets discouraged when a storm completely takes the moon away from the night sky.  Sweet Cindy Moo the cow finally accomplishes her goal by using a bit of creativity proving that there is more than one way to get a job done.

My Lil Guy loves Nursery Rhymes so this book was perfect for us.  Even the littlest readers will be able to relate to the story of a cow who thinks they can reach out and jump (or maybe touch) the moon.  The story is set in rhyme, in an easy way that is full of fun dialogue and puns.  The artwork is playful and appeals to readers with wide smiling cows humorously jumping about.  Recommended for fans of altered fairy tales, preschoolers who like Nursery Rhymes, and parents and teacher looking for a short and fun read aloud.
